Romancham nears 35 Cr, Enkilum Chandrike leads among new releases

Kerala Box Office Update (19.2.23)

1. Romancham - 32.86 Cr (16 days)
It started its third weekend with a bang as it maintained the top spot at Kerala box office despite a huge flow of new releases. It collected more than 2 Cr on Saturday as it looks to cross 25 Cr in Kerala today. The new releases seem to be giving no competition to the horror comedy as it continues to be the first choice for families. It looks to continue its dominance until March. 50 Cr is an achievable target from here as there is no big threat to it in the upcoming weeks.
Kerala - 23.56 Cr
BLOCKBUSTER

2. Enkilum Chandrike - 0.76 Cr (2 days)
It had the best start among the new releases but given the good star cast and the genre, the opening is a little below the expectations. It showed limited growth on day 2 and is set to continue on the same levels on Sunday too but with Romancham raging at the box office, it may find it difficult to post a healthy weekend total. So, Monday becomes decisive for it.

3. Ant Man and the Wasp : Quantumania - 0.69 Cr (2 days Kerala)
It collected around 30 lakhs on day 2 to take its two day total close to 70 lakhs which is good for a Hollywood movie but very low considering the recent MCU blockbusters. The mixed reviews have seem to have affected the box office collections all over India.
BELOW AVERAGE OPENING

4. Christy - 0.39 Cr (2 days)
The huge hype around the film hasn't turned into box office numbers and the negative word of mouth seemed to have sealed the fate of the film. It stayed on the same levels of day 1 on Saturday too and seems it will end the first week around 1 Cr. Another disaster for the young Mathew Thomas.
POOR OPENING

5. Christopher - 9.32 Cr (10 days)
It as been reduced to a few screens in second week and it is nearing the end of run. A huge setback for Megastar after a glorius 2022. It has also become the second straight Mammootty film which has failed to cross the 10 Cr mark in Kerala.
Kerala - 5.42 Cr
DISASTER

6. Vaathi - 0.25 Cr (2 days Kerala)
It has failed to attract viewers except in Palakkad and Trivandrum which are traditionally high grossing areas for Tamil movies in Kerala. Anyways Dhanush has never been a huge crowd puller in Kerala, so the returns aren't surprising.
POOR OPENING

7. Spadikam 4K - 4.61 Cr (10 days)
A re release still bringing in people on day 10 can only be made possible by Mohanlal and Aadu Thoma as it has become one of the highest grossing re releases ever in India.
HIT

8. Dear Vappi - 0.13 Cr (2 days)
It has done respectable numbers for a small film with no big stars but that won't be enough to get pass the line.
BELOW AVERAGE OPENING

9. Pathaan - 13.13 Cr (25 days Kerala)
After Uri, it is the first time a Bollywood movie has run 25 days successfully in the state of Kerala and it still continues to perform well in the limited screens it is left with.
