Kerala Box Office Update (9.5.23)
1. 2018 - 31.85 Cr (4 days)
A film with no promotions just came and gave Mollywood the rejuvenation it needed so badly. It has taken a thunderous opening both in Kerala and overseas circuits as housefull shows rained over the weekend that too with just the power of word of mouth. After Malikkappuram and Romancham, another movie has proved how word of mouth can drive a film at Kerala box office. It has collected more than 13 Cr in Kerala with Monday almost double of its day 1 numbers and hardly any upcoming releases will give it any competition. 50 Cr will be a cakewalk and there are high chances of this movie beating Romancham and also going past 100 Cr worldwide. Its time for rampage and good days are back for Mollywood.

2. Ponniyin Selvan 2 - 17.02 Cr (11 days Kerala)
After a good first week, it has faced tough competition from the surprise blockbuster 2018. But PS 2 has already got into safe zone and break even is just around the corner and but the PS 1 total of 24.23 Cr from Kerala looks far and 2018 rampaging, it looks tough. The realistic target now for this Tamil biggie would be 20 Cr.

3. Paachuvum Albhuthavilakkum - 9.93 Cr (11 days)
It's always tough to see a movie not achieve great box office number despite having all the elements to be a great box office success. It had a decent first week but with 2018 now dominating, the chances of a long run and hitting the break even mark have vanished. It has arguably well in Kerala with chances of it going past 10 Cr still relevant but the overseas numbers aren't good enough. It will also find it tough to go past Fahadh's last release Malayankunju's numbers, which was itself a flop.

4. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 - 1.30 Cr (4 days Kerala)
Amidst 2018 and it success, the ultra positive word of mouth for a Marvel movie in some time has had few takers. Although it has improved over the weekend and had a good Monday, but it will end the first week around 2 Cr probably. If it can pack a good second weekend, then it can get to the level of other Marvel movies collection wise.

5. The Kerala Story - 0.28 Cr (4 days Kerala)
28 lakhs in around 100 shows roughly is a good number but comparing the performance of the movie in other regions, it has been a dud in Kerala. It is nearing 50 Cr from India. In Kerala, most probably it will end under 50 lakhs.
