Kabzaa turns disaster in Kerala, Romancham crosses Vikram

Kerala Box Office Update (19.3.23)

1. Romancham - 66.30 Cr (44 days)
Even on its day 44, it bounced back to get the top spot from Kabzaa as it beat Vikram's Final Kerala gross, becoming the fourth highest grossing movie in Kerala post the pandemic and on Sunday, it can go past the Avatar 2 's gross too and could become the third highest grosser post pandemic behind only KGF 2 and Bheeshmaparvam. But 70 Cr worldwide and 45 Cr looks tough as of now but since this movie has had a fairytale run, nothing can be written off.

Kerala - 40.20 Cr
ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER

2. Kabzaa - 0.23 Cr (2 days Kerala)
After a superb 2022 all over India, Kannada industry is dreaming big but the latest biggie has got a lukewarm start all over the country and in Kerala, its nothing short of a disaster. Not only it has missed KGF 2 and KGF by a big mark, it has even fared worse than Kantara and 777 Charlie which came with low promotions. Its fate has been sealed in Kerala and only time will tell, whether Kannada films can repeat the magic of last year.
POOR OPENING

3. Shazam : Fury of the Gods - 0.11 Cr (2 days Kerala)
It never really generated enough interest to take a big start and the average reviews kind of killed all the buzz. With John Wick arriving next week, it will be a straight swap at all the screens.
POOR OPENING

4. Thuramukham - 2.55 Cr (9 days)
Whatever little promise it showed last weekend died off as weekdays brought in no audience and it has been wiped off most of the screens. For Nivin Pauly, another big jolt as it looks to even finish below Padavettu's final gross.
Kerala - 2.53 Cr
DISASTER

Dry days are continuing at Kerala box office as from around 60 films that released in the first three months yet, only Romancham and the re release of Spadikam bought in some cheer. Among films from other languages, only Pathaan got the hit status as Tamil biggies continued to disappoint in Kerala which has been a trend since the pandemic. Even movies with good word of mouth have struggled to get going this year. But the unexpected runs of Malikappuram in January and Romancham in February has given some confidence to the small films. We hope April will bring in more cheer with a load of biggies arriving next month.
