Slight resurgence for Malaikottai Vaaliban at box office as Ozler continues to shine

 Kerala Box Office Update (5.2.24)

1. Malaikottai Vaaliban - 27.83 Cr (11 days)

The magnum opus had a good Saturday and Sunday as many people gave the film a chance despite alll the negativity around it and thus its prospects have improved slightly with more people now accepting the movie. It's box office fate is more or less sealed with the huge budget impossible to recover but the critical fate is still unclear. The decent second weekend has helped Vaaliban take its total near 14 Cr in Kerala and when the final overseas reports come in, the worldwide total would near 30 Cr. Most probably, only a few clear days left ahead as multiple biggies are set to release in upcoming weekends. But the fact still remains that it is not highest grossing Lijo Jose Pellissery movie in Kerala even after 11 days.

Kerala - 13.73 Cr

DISASTER

2. Abraham Ozler - 39.93 Cr (25 days)

Lack of big releases and lackluster performance of Vaaliban means Ozler continues its good run. it got a really strong 4th weekend as the worldwide total nears 40 Cr. But despite favourable outcome and scenario, the movie seems to have missed on the 50 Cr bus. Anyways a big boost for Jayaram and lets see if the February releases can topple this current highest grosser of the year or not.

Kerala - 22.78 Cr

SUPER HIT

3. Fighter with its strange performance in north India has kind of impacted in the south circuits too. The lack of promotion has clearly killed all its chances in markets like Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Anyways the film is huffing and puffing its way to 2 Cr in Kerala, but considering the presence of Hrithik, that number is a huge disappointment.

4. Captain Miller and this week's new releases like LLB have very minimal impact at the box office.
