10 Cr for Gold worldwide, Saudi Vellakka shows growth over the weekend

Kerala Box Office Update (5.12.22)

1. Gold - 9.45 Cr (4 days)
The Alphonse Puthren film despite negative word of mouth somehow managed to put a total near to 10 Cr on it's opening weekend which is far better than what many hit films managed to do this year. But the fate seemed to have been sealed for it as the film fell down completely after the first day and could only manage below average collections in Kerala and overseas markets. 15 Cr looks impossible and most probably would be out of theatres by next week. In Kerala, it is on the verge of 5 Cr and nothing much more should be expected. A missed chance for the box office to set some records.
Kerala - 4.95 Cr
BELOW AVERAGE OPENING

2. Saudi Vellakka - 0.87 Cr (3 days)
As Gold disappointed, a small film took it's chance and managed to grow over the weekend with good word of mouth spreading. After a slow start, it managed to jump up on Saturday and Sunday to register an opening weekend in excess of 80 lakhs. If it can hold on the weekdays, it can have a clear run without much opposition until Avatar 2 releases.
BELOW AVERAGE OPENING

3. Jaya Jaya Jaya Jaya Hey - 43.23 Cr (38 days)
The weekend audience again preferred it as Gold dissapointed as it went past 28 Cr in Kerala and it is within touching distance of surpassing Jana Gana Mana as the second highest grossing Malayalam movie in Kerala in 2022. It still has a slight possibility of getting to 45 Cr.
Kerala - 28.25 Cr

4. The Teacher - 0.18 Cr (3 days)
Amala Paul's comeback to Mollywood got good reviews but the box office returns are very bad for the weekend. It will mostly be out of theatres soon.
POOR OPENING

5. Mukundan Unni Associates - 7.08 Cr (24 days)
It managed to hold on despite the new releases and remain in the top 5 at Kerala box office. Every little additiom to it's kitty from here on is a bonus.
