Thuramukham takes a below average start, Romancham continues to fly high

Kerala Box Office Update (12.3.23)

1. Thuramukham - 1.28 Cr (2 days)

It took the top spot from Romancham but stayed below average on the first two days despite getting good to mixed reports. The film has a huge budget and the below average performance at Kerala box office won't do it any good and it will look to sustain some kind of a momentum during weekdays as there isn't much competition ahead as the off season kicks in until April. As of now, the film looks to collect around 2 Cr from the opening weekend and the weekdays and the next weekend will be crucial to have some kind of relief for a film that had already suffered a lot due to the multilple delays and other issues. However, Nivin Pauly's wait for a clean hit since 2019 continues.

BELOW AVERAGE OPENING

2. Romancham - 63.76 Cr (37 days)

In its 6th week, Romancham continues to fly high and with each day, 40 Cr mark at Kerala Box office looks more and more easy for it and despite Thuramukham taking the top spot, it beat all the other realeases to keep the second spot and added close to 45 lakhs on day 37 too. The final figure of the film depends on the timing of its digital release. As of now, 65 Cr looks easy.

Kerala - 38.81 Cr

ALL TIME BLOCKBUSTER

3. Maheshum Maruthiyum - 0.37 Cr (2 days)

Asif Ali had a good end to 2022, both critically and commercially after a horrible run at box office. But he has started 2023 again on the worst possible note as his latest release had absolutely no promotions and the fate of the film has almost been sealed with paltry collections. Another movie that could end up on the wrong side of 1 Cr.

POOR OPENING

4. Khalipurse Of Billionaires - 0.09 Cr (2 days)

The film arguably has the worst title for a Malayalam movie in recent years and there is no surprise that the film tanked within two days and it just adds to the long list of Dhyan Sreenivasan movies that barely get past 25 lakhs at the box office.

DISASTER

5. Agilan - 0.09 Cr (2 days)

Jayam Ravi is not a big star in Kerala, but the film got a decent number of screens. Anyways, 9 lakhs is not an excuse and it just adds to the long list of Tamil movies that have flopped in Kerala in recent years.

DISASTER

6. Aalankam - 0.05 Cr (2 days)

Hardly anyone knew such a movie was releasing and sadly its the state of most of the movies. Another one to that list of failures.

7. Pranaya Vilasam and Avatar 2 continues in theatres with minimal shows and little collections.
