Madanolsavam emerges as the only hope from the festive season at Kerala box office

Kerala Box Office Update (20.4.23)

1. Madanolsavam - 2.00 Cr (6 days)

Suraj Venjaramoodu and Ratheesh Balakrishna Poduval repeat the magic of Android Kunjappan as Madanolsavam continues to pull in decent crowds and be the only hope for Malayalam industry in such a big festive season. The film has hit the 2 Cr mark worldwide within the first week itself which has become a rarity in 2023. Despite multiple Eid releases, it will remain a strong contender and could emerge as a sleeper hit this festive season. All it needs now is a strong second weekend.

Kerala - 1.76 Cr

BELOW AVERAGE

2. Pookkaalam - 2.15 Cr (12 days)

Although it has now emerged as the leader among Easter releases, it is heading in the wrong direction as the meagre collections wont get it to the safe zone and it is a big blow that the film couldn't capitalise on the festive season despite having top stars and being a family drama. Basil Joseph needs to reinvent and his Eid release will be crucial.

Kerala - 1.83 Cr

FLOP

3. Adi - 0.54 Cr (6 days)

Poor releasing strategy along with mixed reviews sealed its fate as the movie never got going despite having comparatively less competition on a Vishu weekend. Dulquer Salmaan as a producer shouldn't come up with such average ventures back to back.

DISASTER

4. Corona Papers - 2.10 Cr (14 days)

It is nearing the end of run and it has clearly been rejected at the box office despite getting good reviews. Another film that never got going at the box office.

Kerala - 1.73 Cr

DISASTER

5. John Wick 4 - 4.96 Cr (27 days Kerala)

The fourth installment of John Wick is inching slowly but steadily towards 5 Cr mark at the box office.
